The Friends of the Parish Rooms (FoPR) was formed in 2010 and since then have done a magnificent job of fundraising by means of: Winter and Summer Lunches or Suppers; Moviola; Rummikub and supplying refreshments for many other Somerton events.
The funds raised have been put towards various repair jobs, replacing items and buying new ones such as:
In conjunction with Somerton Town Council and Somerton Community Association, a new cooker was bought in 2013.
Somerton Community Association has also contributed greatly to the Parish Rooms purchasing a new carpet for the Pinney Room; blinds for the hall windows; a projector and the new doors. They have also paid for the vent removal and restoration together with interior and exterior decoration; a new central heating system; the new speakers in the main hall and the refurbishment of the toilets. Recently they have financed the installation of door openers enabling people with disabilities to enter the building more easily.
We are also grateful to John England for the lectern he made and donated in 2011.
